Final Gift Exchange of 2012

Is coming to a close! Tuesday we expect everyone to have their gifts completed!

If you have already completed your exchange, please post here with links to the deviations! I am sure everyone would love to see! I am sorry, but I do not have a specific folder for the exchange, perhaps we should make a folder for art/comic exchanges? If we ever do, you are more than welcome to include your exchange there, even if it is not a comic. If the exchange is a comic, go ahead and submit it to the appropriate existing folder (most likely FanArt as the characters involved likely belong to the person you are gifting, not yourself)

+-+-+-+Important Rules+-+-+-+

Do not, under any circumstances, upload or show off your end of the gift before you have confirmation your partner has finished their end. This is for your own protection... it is vital that both you and your partner complete your gifts on time, and we had issues last year with people not finishing their end... If you give your gift before your partner finishes theirs, and they do not complete their end of the deal, you are essentially rewarding them for nothing, and I cannot help you much... if this is their first offense, they will be banned from other group activities until they finish your gift, and if it their second they will be banned from participating in these entirely, and will be given 1 month to finish your gift or they'll be banned from the group... but that's about it. I cannot force them to gift you if they're set on not doing it. They may see the gift you did and think it's not "good enough", forgetting it's a gift, or something else might have happened, so it's important you both show each other your gifts at the same time.

If you finish early, good for you! Let your partner know, but do not give them the gift until they confirm they've finished as well, then you can exchange together.

Most of you, I am not worried about... and the two I was are paired together, so... but please, I want this to be fun, and safe. So even though you may just be so excited, keep the gift and wait till your partner is done.

+-+-+-+What Now+-+-+-+

Now that you have your partner, it's time to get some basics explained.

First off, contact your partner and introduce yourself. Go through their gallery to see their drawing style and abilities, then note them to work out what you'd like, but remember, only ask for things within your own ability, as well, because if you ask for something super complicated, they have the right to ask for the same. This is a fun little event, don't take advantage of the person.

It is wise to lay out what you think you can do for them, as well, as it will give them advice on what to ask for.

+-+-+-+What to ask for+-+-+-+

:bulletblue: Artwork, in any media (preferably, let them decide). If you are each mailing the gift, you don't need to mail it until after the holidays, but it must be completed by January 1st.

:bulletblue: You can exchange points, premium memberships, online gift certificates.

:bulletblue: You can exchange critiques if you both are premium members.

:bulletblue: You can work together on a collaboration, or do a Guest Strip for each other's comic.

:bulletblue: You can do reviews for each other's comics, or even red-lines of each other's work.

Just about anything is allowed, as long as the both of you agree to it. This is a gift in that it's free, but what it contains can be anything you both can imagine.

+-+-+-+Requirements+-+-+-+

Please remember, you must complete your end of the project. This is very important as there is a penalty.

+-+-+-+What Penalty?+-+-+-+

:bulletblue: Since the person gifting you is the person you are gifting, they will withhold your gift. You do not earn a gift if you are not giving one, regardless of the reason.

:bulletblue: You will not be able to compete in any group events until you have completed your gift and given it to your recipient. Please note, if you are very late, they do not have to give you your gift in return (I will have already made then show me to prove they have it done). If they choose to give you your gift, that's fantastic! If not, keep in mind they worked hard to meet the deadline, and their acceptance of a late gift is keeping you in good standing with the group.

If you find there is just no way you will get done in time, due to unavoidable circumstances (you are suddenly being forced to move, your computer has died, or a loved one has passed away/become ill and you need to care for them), there are options. Contact them and work out what you can do, but try to have something done by the deadline.
Giving them points, a subscription, a wish list item, offer to purchase a commission for them from another artist...

If there is no way any of that can be done, offer then 2 gifts in exchange, and promise to have them within 2 months, please. Contact your recipient as soon as you know something is going on. If your internet goes out, try getting on at a library, school, friends house... if you have a laptop, try seeking wi-fi at a Wi-Fi hot spot for free, but get in contact with your recipient.
